## HEADLINE Trump rejected Iran's seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as fresh strikes and explosions were reported across the waterway. [243][310]

## TODAY IN REVIEW The central development of the day was diplomatic. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said Tehran had sent Washington a seven-day plan, via Qatar, to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and begin negotiations, with reopening expected on the sixth day if agreed steps were implemented. [310][327][265] Trump rejected the proposal, according to US officials cited by the Wall Street Journal, and reportedly told aides he expected to resume bombing Iran after the November midterm elections. [243][212] Trump said Iran wanted a deal and that he did too, but called the proposal unacceptable, insisting on Iranian action first. [87][95] He also characterised the US naval blockade of Iranian ports as the "largest military blockade in history" and posted an image labelling the strait the "Strait of Trump". On the water, activity continued. Anti-ship cruise missiles and drones were reported launched from southern Iran toward the strait, with multiple explosions reported through the day.
